December 2014

Found 7 blog entries for December 2014.

We’re on the final countdown to Christmas and I’m ready to settle down and relax.  Our annual holiday party was fun for all, and I enjoyed spending time with our agents at the office party.  My plan for the rest of the month is to spend time reading in front of a cozy fire, do a little home cooking, and enjoy Christmas and New Years Eve with my family.

Thanks to all of you who have been such loyal friends, clients, and colleagues.  Each and every one of you has helped to make my life blessed.  I send you all my heartfelt wishes for a happy Christmas!

Whether you are looking for last minute gifts or are just in the mood to browse, drop by the grand opening of Rejuvenation, which is opening its doors in Palo Alto on December 18, 2014.  Especially exciting is the fact that Rejuvenation is partnering with Steven Eichler (grandson of Joseph Eichler) to present an in-store exhibit celebrating his grandfather’s Mid-Century legacy.

Rejuvenation offers a modern take on the old-fashioned general store by offering just about everything you might want for home improvement.  The Palo Alto store promises an emphasis on Mid-Century Modern, perfect for accessorizing an Eichler home!  Palo Alto’s new shop joins existing brick-and-mortar Rejuvenation stores located in Portland, Seattle, L.A., and Berkeley.

The March 2015 edition will include 168 inspiration-filled pages of our own personal favorite rooms, ranging from before/after projects to imaginative solutions for a few common problems.

A few quick guidelines from Dwell include:

  • Photos submitted should not rely on filters, distortion, or other artificial

Nothing could be more retro that a chocolate fondue set or wine set that could be straight off of the Mad Men set.

It’s party time!  You’ve checked and double-checked your to-do list.  Food is ready, drinks are chilling, the decorations are up, music is cued, and the holiday lights are glowing.  It’s time to take one last look around and make everything is party perfect before welcoming your guests.

  • Get yourself ready!  Before putting the last minute touches on the house, be sure you are dressed and ready to party.  You wouldn’t want an early-bird guest catching you still outfitted in your bathrobe.
  • Declutter.  Clean up the entryway (indoors and out) and make a last minute check around the house for clutter.  If you don’t have time to put items away, stick them in a closet to deal with later.
  • Empty the dishwasher.  Trust me, you’ll thank yourself in the

Create a holiday mood in your Eichler or MCM home with these festive touches.

Create a winter wonderland with snowflakes, blown glass ornaments and icicles from Golden Hill Studio.

This snowflake clock is a bit pricey – but it comes complete with 336 Swarovski Crystals.  Available through Modo Bath.  And yes, they have a less expensive version available…

If vintage is your style, put this retro atomic tree topper on your Mid-Century Christmas tree.

Celebrate Hanukkah with this elegant, handmade contemporary menorah.

I also love this dreidel salt and pepper set from Pottery Barn.

If you are planning a Christmas party and want to celebrate with an Eichler or Mid-Century twist, set the stage with vintage-style invitations.  The retro Mid-Century enthusiasts among you might like these Googie-style cocktail party invites or this nostalgic 1950s couple.  If an Ugly Sweater Party is your theme this year, nothing says Ugly Sweater Party better than these funny invites and the coordinating postage stamps.

These cards and stamps, featuring a silver Christmas tree, offer a bit of elegance to your Mid-Century invitations.  My particular favorites (probably predictably so) are the Eichler style holiday invitations that spread the cheer in true Eichler style – and they both have matching postage stamps.

These fun invitations have come our
