They’re cute and they’re cool. They are showing up in movies, on TV, and at home & garden shows. Pinterest loves them and design websites showcase them. Some are nomads on wheels and others bloom where they are planted. Always a man ahead of his time, Joseph Eichler even got in on the act. One Walnut Creek Eichler homeowner has a mini-Eichler, built by Eichler himself, in the backyard. Once considered as backyard studios or guesthouses, tiny houses have become a way of life for some and are redefining the meaning of home.

A tiny house is, as the name suggests, small; generally less than 400 square feet – basically a tricked-out, luxury tree house on the ground. Sometimes they have wheels but many tiny houses are built using the same building

I want to take the opportunity to wish everyone a happy Thanksgiving and let you know how much I appreciate each and every one of you: friends, clients, and our stellar real estate team. You mean a great deal to me, both personally and professionally. I couldn’t do it without you!

In the spirit of yummy food (which you all know I am also thankful for), I’d like to share a family favorite recipe for cranberry sauce. It is super easy and makes a great addition to the turkey dinner. (And the best part is that you can make it ahead and keep it in the fridge for up to 1 week.)

  • 12 oz. fresh cranberries
  • 1 ½ cups sugar
  • ½ cup brandy
  • 2 Tblsp. orange zest

Sort through the berries and discard any funky ones. Mix everything in an 8” square

While having (and using) a home security system is at the top of the list, there are a few simple precautions you can take to help secure your home and give yourself peace of mind.

  • Let your neighbors know you will be away. Even if you don’t know them well, give them a heads-up so they can keep an eye out for anything out of the ordinary. You might want to share your contact info with them as well.
  • Don’t tell the rest of the world you will be gone. Social

It’s a not-so-well kept secret in the real estate world that despite conventional wisdom, October is a good month to sell you home. That being said, if you missed the October sales-fest, it doesn’t mean that you’ve missed out on getting your home sold!

Once-upon-a-time school calendars, with their September – May schedule, controlled the residential real estate market. Moms and Dads wanted to find their new home and get the family moved while the kids were out of school for the summer. While spring and summer are still a great time for selling and buying a home (particularly if the move means a change of schools for the children), autumn and winter have come into their own.

Question: What do Ludwig van Beethoven, Franz Schubert and Joseph Eichler have in common?

Answer:  The Lucas Valley in Marin County, home to 1200+ Eichler homes and the Lucas Valley Chamber Orchestra.

The beautiful Lucas Valley in Marin County has a lot going for it; a bucolic setting, two well-preserved Eichler neighborhoods, and the Lucas Valley Chamber Orchestra (LVCO). While Upper Lucas Valley and Marinwood are well known Eichler communities, the LVCO has been a bit of a well kept secret – but the word is getting out.

The Lucas Valley Chamber Orchestra began in 2011 when a group of Lucas Valley residents invited a few friends and fellow musicians to get together and make music. Today it is a proudly self-directed group of 34 Bay Area
