Aloha Modernism: A Weekend Of Palm Springs Fabulosity

If you just can’t wait for the official weeklong Modernism Week extravaganza in February, head to Palm Springs this weekend for a 4-day preview. The festivities kick off on Friday, October 10, 2014 with tours of the Rat Pack’s playground and an Aloha, Modernism Week celebration featuring Hawaiian music, hula dancing, and a poolside showing of Elvis’ movie Blue Hawaii.
The fun continues on Saturday and Sunday with more tours, parties, modernist art exhibits, and the very first annual Palm Springs Modernism Show & Sale. You can meet Nancy Baron, who authored The Good Life - Palm Springs, hunt for Mid-Century treasures at the Modernism Yard Sale, or hook up with other riders for a bicycling tour of the city. Monday morning wraps things up with a few more tours and a big “aloha” until February.
If this is what is in store for us on the preview, I just can’t even imagine how spectacular February’s official Modernism Week will be! Nobody does Mid-Century Modern quite like Palm Springs, and I love that they are offering MCM enthusiasts this extra opportunity to experience Palm Springs hospitality and their Mid-Century panache!
