Celebrate Valentine’s Day With Flash & Flair

If you are looking for something special to do with your Valentine this year and are tired of the usual flowers, chocolates and wining and dining, check out the new exhibit at the California Auto Museum in Sacramento.
The new show, Flash & Flair: The Atomic 50s and 60s, promises to be a Mid-Century auto buff’s dream display. Some of us may be a bit too young to remember the iconic automobile fins of the 1950s and early ‘60s, but they were a prominent feature of autos back in the day. First seen on Caddies, the fins (and their accompanying chrome and color) were flashy and fun, epitomizing the optimism and spirit of the era. GM, Chrysler, and other car manufacturers vied to have the biggest, best, and most stylish fins with upright, curved, vertical, horizontal, and V-shaped designs. Along with the cars, Flash & Flair will feature big-finned auto TV commercials and an interactive art activity that will allow kids of all ages to create their own finned fantasies.
Come and see for yourself. Flash & Flair: The Atomic 50s and 60s opens on Valentine’s Day and will run through June 7, 2015.
