Eames Elephants Invade London Design Show
If you love contemporary style, love to shop and love to travel, dust off your passport and head for the airport. London is the place to be this week. The annual London Design Festival has hit town and it looks like fun. Billed as the UK’s biggest design event the Festival has, in the past, hosted visitors from all over the world; and with almost 400 events staged throughout London, this year’s celebration promises more of the same.
As part of the London Design Festival, Designjunction brings its flagship show to town. (They have also presented international shows in New York and Milan.) Designjuntion will be exhibiting at two venues; one is billed as a design destination and the other, with 2000+ sq. meters (which translates to 21,527+ sq. ft. for those of us who are metrically challenged…) of floor space, is dedicated to shops and pop-up restaurants.
Designjunction 2015 is also involved with the A Child’s Dream charity project, which is something you can participate in even if a trip London doesn’t fit into your schedule. A herd of Eames Elephants personalized by prominent designers will be auctioned off in a live online auction, beginning September 23. Proceeds will benefit research into Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). While this is a UK specific charity, understanding SIDS will benefit the world.
