Early Bird Pricing On Tickets For The 2015 Silicon Valley Home Tour

Today is the last day to get in on Early Bird Pricing for the 2015 Silicon Valley Home Tour and this is an event you won’t want to miss.  Showcasing four contemporary homes in Palo Alto and Los Altos, the October 10, 2015 tour is self-guided and bike-able for those so inclined.  Maps will be provided on tour day for route suggestions.

Each of the homes is uniquely contemporary, but all embrace the theme that Joseph Eichler made popular with his California, indoor-outdoor style 50 years ago. Three of the homes are in Palo Alto; one, created by Arkin Tilt Architects, is a home designed for sustainable living with a goal of net zero energy. This interesting home also brings the iconic butterfly roof into present-day design.

House #2 is an award-winning home, designed by Bellomo Architects. It is a single-story home in Palo Alto that was constructed with a modular steel system, using sustainable design principles.  The third Palo Alto home on the tour is the Elements House, designed by Studio URBIS.  This totally modern home was featured in Dwell Magazine and embraces the style so many Eichler lovers appreciate, the merging of the outdoors with inside.

The fourth house, an award-winning home in Los Altos has also been featured in Dwell Magazine. Designed by Bohlin Cywinski Jackson, this home is arranged around a central courtyard and pool. Like Eichler’s homes, it is of post-and-beam construction; however, these post-and-beams are steel. The Los Altos house is an energy efficient home with radiant flooring and photovoltaic panels that produce an abundance of electricity.

The Home Tour is a two-day event.  Friday, October 9, 2015 is the Meet the Architect Mixer and Design Showcase, and the Home Tour is on Saturday, October 10.  You can purchase tickets for either or both.  For more information visit the AIA Home Tour page.

Don’t forget, today is the last day to purchase Early Bird tickets.  On October 1, ticket prices go up!
