Let The Zoo Light Up Your Holidays!
We all love holiday lights. Most of us have gone on evening drives to enjoy particularly festive neighborhoods, participated in tree or menorah lighting ceremonies or watched local parades and celebrations. This year, why not try something a little different? Why not go to the zoo? Two Bay Area zoos are lighting up for the holidays and in Southern CA, the Los Angeles Zoo is celebrating with lights, reindeer, and Santa.
The LA Zoo Lights holiday party will run through January 3 (with the exception of Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, when it will be closed). Lights, music, Santa, and reindeer are all part of the fun. There will also be a spectacular New Year’s Eve extravaganza with dinner, rides, and live broadcast of the Times Square ball drop. For more information or to purchase tickets visit LA Zoo Nights.
For those of us living up here in the Bay Area, both the San Francisco Zoo and the Oakland Zoo are also reveling in style. Live entertainment (including tap dancing Christmas trees, singing, magic, and music), food and – of course – Santa Claus will be part of the fun at the San Francisco Zoo. On the other side of the Bay, the Oakland Zoo will brighten the holiday nights with light shows, Santa, and other Christmas adventures. For info on either, visit Zoo Lights SF and Zoo Lights Oakland.
I think Zoo Lights looks like a fun family activity that will be enjoyed by young and old – and just might become a new holiday tradition!
