Mid-Century Themed Fun In The Bay Area This Weekend
The San Francisco Bay Area always has a thing or two going on – and this weekend is no exception. In addition to the weekend-long Eat Drink SF, two other things that caught my MCM eye are happening today – so you might want to toss that Saturday newspaper aside and head up to Calistoga for the day or head to San Francisco for an evening of fun and chuckles.
I don’t think many things sum up the Mid-Century family experience more that than camper trailers. They are an iconic piece of history and continue to be popular with contemporary camping enthusiasts and collectors. If you would like to take a look at a few, join Napa County Landmarks at Bothe-Napa Valley State Park today for the Vintage Trailer Hitch-Up celebration. Vintage trailers, music, food and wine (of course – it is Napa, after all…) are all part of the party. The Hitch-Up is this Saturday (August 22, 2015) from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For details visit Vintage Trailer Hitch-Up at Bothe State Park.
If the Happiest Place On Earth is more your style, join Charles Phoenix at the Walt Disney Family Museum in San Francisco for the Retro Disneyland Slide Show. Experience Disneyland when it was new through Kodachrome images and Charles Phoenix’s irrepressible humor and enthusiasm. Visit Disney’s mid-1950s concept of Tomorrowland, which projected the world in 1986, see Flying Saucers, admire the all plastic Monsanto House of the Future, fly to the moon in TWA’s Rocket to the Moon, and more. This celebration of the Magic Kingdom will be this Saturday evening, with performances at 4 p.m., 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Form more information go to Charles Phoenix: Retro Disneyland Slide Show.
