"Ray Eames: A Century Of Modern Design" On Exhibit Now Through February 23

I didn’t know that Ray Eames was a woman! As the ‘better half’ of the Eames collaboration, she and her husband Charles created many iconic designs of the 20th Century. Although Charles originally worked as an architect and Ray was a designer and filmmaker, the Eames are probably best known for their contribution to modern furniture design. I think we are all familiar with the celebrated Eames chairs.
The Ray Eames exhibition, which has been running in Sacramento since February 2013, celebrates the life and work of this amazing Sacramento native and features over 100 original works and artifacts from Eames Office and the Eames family collections. As one of the 20th Century’s most significant artists, Ray Eames contributed not only to the world of design, but to the world of equality during a time when professional opportunities for women were limited.
This exhibition is about to come to an end, but there is still time to catch it. Ray Eames: A Century of Modern Design will be at the California Museum in Sacramento through February 23.Â
