Spring Forward In Style

Daylight saving time begins this weekend, when we step into the spring and summer months by turning our clocks forward an hour. Yes, we do lose an hour of sleep (which we will blissfully regain on Nov. 1), but we gain an extra hour of light at the end of the day. Even though it’s a little more difficult to get the kids to bed because it is still light out, I love those long lazy-hazy-crazy days of summer!
While a lot of you Mid-Century enthusiasts will be setting your Sunburst clocks, like this classic design from MoMA, I’ve found some other clocks that will help us welcome the longer days with style. If surrealism is your thing, check out the Dada Clock from Artecnica or the Face wall clock. The colorful multi-colored Watch Me wall clock from Normann Copenhagen makes a bright statement, while the eco-friendly Timeless Garden brings a whole new meaning to playing in the mud (click on the "works" / "projects" folder to find the clock). A little more whimsical is the Ellipse cuckoo clock - take a look; it’s not your grandmother’s cuckoo clock. And, debuting on Monday just in time to celebrate the annual turning forward of the clocks, the much-anticipated Apple Watch, which will bring a whole new meaning to wristwatches, is to be unveiled.
Regardless of your clock style – don’t forget to set your clocks forward one hour before going to bed Saturday night. Daylight saving time begins this Sunday, March 8, 2015, at 2:00 a.m.
