The Shape of Things: Warren MacKenzie Ceramics Exhibition
I just learned about a fabulous new exhibition that has been showing at the Crocker Art Museum in Sacramento since mid-November. I feel like I’m a little late to the party – but as they say, better late than never. The exhibit will run through February 23, 2014, so it isn’t too late to head over to Sacramento to see this fabulous collection of Warren MacKenzie’s work.
MacKenzie is an influential ceramist/potter and teacher who has contributed a great deal to the world of American Studio pottery. Striking a balance between form and function, and influenced by the aesthetics of Japanese and Korean ware, MacKenzie’s work has the simple clean lines that we Modernists appreciate and the “usability” that we all look for in everyday life.
If you are looking for a fun little side trip after all the hustle and bustle of the holidays, head to the Crocker Art Gallery in Sacramento and spend an afternoon exploring modernism as presented through pottery.
