Weekend Boat Parades Light Up Your Holidays
We Bay Area Eichler homeowners are lucky enough to live in an area where there is always something interesting going on, and no time of year is more exciting than the Christmas season. Each town and city is full of holiday lights, craft fairs, and local festivities. Performances of The Nutcracker, A Christmas Carol, and holiday concerts can be found throughout the Bay Area. Something that is somewhat unique to our area in northern California are the lighted boat parades that bring a fun element to our celebrations.
This weekend brings two parades that you and your family, as well as your friends and neighbors, are sure to enjoy. Closest to home (for me, at least) is the 26th Annual Sausalito Lighted Boat Parade + Fireworks where you can enjoy eats, drinks, and a stunning display of lights. The fun begins at 6 p.m. and Saturday, December 14.
Across the Bay and a day earlier, on December 13, the spectacular San Francisco Holiday Lights and Sights Boat Parade will begin near Pier 39 and proceed along the waterfront past Fisherman’s Wharf and Fort Mason to Crissy Field and back again. Great viewing can be had from Pier 39, Marina Green, Aquatic Park, and Crissy Field.
If you can’t make it to either of these events, next weekend on Friday, December 20, a boat parade is planned for the South Bay. The Port of Redwood City and the Sequoia Yacht Club are sponsoring a lighted boat pageant from 5 – 7 p.m. The gathering spot for this event is the Sequoia Yacht Club.
I hope that everyone has a wonderful weekend and enjoys the fun and excitement of the season!
