Wondering what to give the Eichler enthusiast on your holiday gift list?
Whether you are looking for a hostess gift, stocking stuffers, or a present to leave under the tree, finding the perfect gift for the Eichler devotee in your life can be a challenge. Every Eichler owner has a different sensibility ranging from retro Mid-Century to sleek contemporary. I’ve rounded up a few specifically Eichler goodies that are sure to please the Eichler lover on your gift list.
- Books – there are a lot of great books on Mid-Century Modern style out there - but that bibliography will have to wait for another blog. Today’s subject is very specifically Eichler related. Two informative books on Joseph Eichler and Eichler homes that any Eichler homeowner would appreciate are Jerry Ditto’s beautifully illustrated “Eichler Homes: Design for Living” and “Eichler: Modernism Rebuilds the American Dream” by Paul Adamson and Marty Arbunich.
- Floor plans – If you know the architect and model of your Eichler aficionado’s Eichler home (or their dream Eichler) you might, with a little bit of research, be able to find a set of plans (or a copy) to frame.
- Original advertising brochures – In the 1950s and ‘60s Joseph Eichler was doing a booming business and promoted his homes with photo-loaded brochures. A few are still out there and would make a welcome gift for an Eichler fan.
- Clothing – Zazzle and Café Press have some cute Eichler Homes T-shirts, hoodies, and even P.J.s.
- Novelty gifts – An Eichler travel mug, Eichler iPhone charger case, or a mousepad with an Eichler floor plan would all make great hostess gifts or stocking stuffers.
I’d love to hear from you with other Eichler themed gift giving ideas. Happy shopping!
