Charleston Gardens is a neighborhood of Mid-Century contemporary homes that incudes 78 Eichlers located on the south side of East Charleston Road between Sutherland Drive and Montrose Avenue.  The Charleston Gardens Eichlers are on East Charleston Road, Seminole Way, Maplewood Avenue, Maplewood Place, and portions of Sutherland Drive and Montrose Avenue.

In 1951 Charleston Gardens began as a neighborhood of ranch-style homes. When the original developer went bankrupt, Joseph Eichler purchased the remaining building sites and went on to finish development of Charleston Gardens in 1954 – contemporaneously with the nearby Eichler tract, Greenmeadow.  The Eichler homes in Charleston Gardens are smaller than the Greenmeadow Eichlers, with most of them being 3-bedroom models averaging just over 1100 square feet of living space.
