Cupertino Eichler Homes
Built in the early 1960s, the Eichler homes in Cupertino are centered in the community of Fairgrove. Located in the southeastern section of the city, the Cupertino Eichlers are bound by Phil Lane and Bollinger Road to the north and south, between Miller and S. Tantau Avenues.
Although there are a few smaller Eichler homes of a modest 1220 square feet, most of the Eichlers in Fairgrove are comfortably sized homes ranging between 1400 – 1500 square feet, with the typical Eichler floor plan featuring 4 bedrooms with 2 bathrooms, and offering a mix of courtyard entry and atrium models. In an effort to maintain the integrity of the mid-century Eichler aesthetic, the city of Cupertino has recognized the Fairgrove Eichler community with unique zoning ordinances intended to encourage maintaining the exterior style of the homes consistent with the modernist Eichler tradition.
As a note of interest: Visitors and residents of Fairgrove are welcomed to the neighborhood by signs saying, “Fairgrove Eichler Neighborhood - circa 1960”.
