Eichler and mid-century modern design fans, I hope that you had an opportunity to attend this very special event to benefit the Hospice of Marin!

The Open Hearts, Open Homes event occurred the weekend of September 15, 2006. Many wonderful events took place, including a Saturday tour celebrating the 50th anniversary of Marin Eichler Homes. This tour enabled participants to preview some wonderful mid-century modern Eichler homes in Marin County and also enjoy a 1950's classic car show.  >> Learn more about Eichler Homes in Marin.

Most of the Eichler neighborhoods in Marin were represented with over 21 San Rafael Eichler homes on tour.Featured homes included:

Eichler homes in Terra Linda featured on this tour were on Golden Hinde Blvd (1 home), Devon Drive (1), Del Ganado Rd (2), Cabrillo Court (1), Cortes Court (1), Las Ovejas Road (1), Penny Royal Lane (1), Las Colinda Road (3) and Bamboo Terrace (1).

Upper Lucas Valley and Marinwood Eichler homes featured on this tour were on Kernberry Drive (1 home), Mount Susitna Court (3), Pikes Peak Drive (1), Mount Tenaya Court (2), Mount Shasta Drive (1) and Oak Mountain Court (1).

Approximately 500 people registered and participated in the Marin Eichler Homes Tour. Many participants were fellow Bay Area Eichler owners looking for ideas for remodeling an Eichler, while many others were simply fans of progressive residential architecture and welcomed the opportunity to tour homes and give to a wonderful cause.  In addition to the Joseph Eichler House Tour, other fifties nostalgic weekend events included a 50's Sock Hop and a 50's Fun Family Faire.

Proceeds from this event were donated to the Hospice of Marin Foundation (which has subsequently been renamed Hospice by the Bay to more accurately reflect the three counties they serve). For additional information regarding this wonderful organization,  please visit www.hospicebythebay.org or call 1-415-526-5580.

If you missed the 2006 Eichler Tour, please be sure to mark your calendars for the 2007 Eye on Eichlers Tour which will be held over two days this year (September 15-16, 2007.    Hope to see you there!
