Eichler Mahogany Paneling / Interior Wall Ideas
Philippine mahogany (more commonly referred to as "Luan" or "Luan Paneling") was the material of choice for interior walls of most Bay Area Eichler Homes built in the mid-late 1950s and early 60s. This honey-colored, 1/4" thick mahogany paneling provided Joseph Eichler homes with a warm and homey feel while also providing an inviting contrast to the light-filled environment common to all Eichler homes.
Preserving the original mahogany panels is often a high priority for Eichler aficionados however many owners have walls that have been painted, stained, replaced or updated as part of an Eichler remodeling project.
Interior wall paneling pictures and ideas are presented below for fellow Eichler owners and mid-century modern homeowners. If you've updated, replaced or restored the mahogany walls of your Eichler home and would like to share your pictures and tips with other owners, please email them to Team@EichlerForSale.com.
