Fairglen / Willow Glen Eichlers, San Jose
The Willow Glen neighborhood of San Jose is home to almost 350 Eichler homes located in three distinct tracts. In Fairglen, perhaps the best known of the communities, Eichlers can be found on portions of Booksin and Briarwood Avenues, as well as Fairhill Lane, Fairwood Avenue, Fairlawn Avenue, Fairlawn Court, Fairgrove Court, Fairoak Court, Fairorchard Avenue, Fairglen Drive, and Andalusia Way. Less than a mile to the north is another tract with Eichler homes on Margot Place and Adele Place. The third Willow Glen Eichler development is off Dumbarton Avenue on Comstock, Hudson Drive, Frobisher Way and Raleigh Drive.
The first Fairglen / Willow Glen Eichlers to be built were the 30 homes in the Dry Creek area along Margot and Adele Place. They were constructed in the late 1950s and include 30 comfortably sized 4-bedroom / 2-bath models. In 1958 construction began on the larger tract (250 Eichlers) in Fairglen with a variety of models that include both courtyard and atrium homes. The third Willow Glen Eichler project was completed in 1962 with the 66 Eichlers located in the Hudson Drive / Dumbarton area.
