Mountain View Eichler Homes

The 275 Eichler homes in Mountain View are found in two separate areas.  With 200 Eichlers, the Fairview tract in the Monta Loma neighborhood is the larger of the two Mountain View Eichler communities.  The Fairview/Monta Loma Eichlers are located on Quincy Drive, Benjamin Drive, Thaddeus Drive, Dell Avenue, Emmons Drive, Nedson Court, Victory Avenue, Richard Court, Alvin Street, and Thompson Avenue.  Three miles south of Monta Loma, 75 Eichlers are located in the Bell Meadows tract along Trophy Drive, Eichler Court, and Eichler Drive.

Built in the mid-1950s, most of the Monta Loma Eichler homes are 3-bedroom, 2-bath designs in a neighborhood of Mid-Century homes that are similar to Eichlers, including Mackay Homes and Mardell homes.

The Eichler homes in Bell Meadows are larger 4-bedroom models built in the early 1970s.  Most of the Bell Meadows Eichlers were designed by Claude Oakland & Associates and feature enclosed atriums/galleries.

As a note of interest:  The claim that Steve Jobs grew up in an Eichler in Mountain View is mistaken.  Jobs actually lived in a home built by John Mackay.  Mackay homes look very similar to Eichler homes and were, in fact designed by one of Eichler’s architects Anshen+Allen.
