Nineteenth Avenue Park Eichlers, San Mateo
The Eichler homes in San Mateo’s 19th Avenue Park were the first that Joseph Eichler built in Menlo Park. With the exception of a few Eichlers on the west side of S. Grant Street (just south of Haddon Drive), the 19th Avenue Park Eichler homes are located in a tract that only has two access points – one is Charles Lane off S. Delaware Street; the other is Betty Lane, which enters from S. Grant Street. The 19th Avenue Park Eichlers are on Joanne Drive, Wolfe Drive, Connie Avenue, Eleanor Drive, Edna Way, Jody Court, Celeste Drive, and Vanessa Drive.
Nineteenth Avenue Park Eichlers are modest 3 and 4 bedroom homes on relatively small lots and were constructed using 3 basic floor plans. Although remodeling has changed a few of the homes in the neighborhood, most of the homes retain the early era Eichler characteristics and offer a nice mix of flat roofs, low-gabled models, and shed roof/flattop combos. A small neighborhood park with a grassy area, playground, and picnic tables is at the south end of 19th Avenue Park.
