The Sacramento Eichlers were designed by Jones & Emmons and feature the open living spaces, flat or low gabled roofs, and the indoor-outdoor attitude that typifies Eichler homes. The homes were designed using four different floor plans, all with 3 or 4 bedrooms, 2 baths, an all-purpose room, and a 2-car garage. Although there have been a few non-Eichler style remodels, most of the Sacramento Eichlers maintain the original Eichler aesthetic.
As a note of interest: Sacramento was Joseph Eichler’s first venture outside of the San Francisco Bay Area. Of the 143 Eichler homes originally planned for Sacramento’s South Land Park Hills neighborhood, only 62 were built. Construction of Eichler homes never extended to nearby Eichler Street.
If mid-century modern homes in the Greater Sacramento area are of interest to you, you should also consider Streng Homes which were built in far greater numbers and share many of the characteristics with homes built by Joseph Eichler.
