Stanford Eichler Homes

Eichler homes are scattered throughout the residential area of the Stanford campus.  Most of the 100 or so Stanford Eichlers are on either side of Stanford Avenue from Junipero Serra Blvd. to Peter Coutts Road and Mayfield Avenue, with another group closer to campus on roads branching off Alvarado Road.

The Eichler homes in Stanford are a veritable who’s who in the world of architects that designed homes for Joseph Eichler.  Homes by Anshen + Allen, Jones & Emmons, and Claude Oakland are the most prevalent Eichlers in the area.  Other architects whose work is represented in the Stanford Eichlers are Aaron Green who designed a semi-circular home that is one of Eichler’s most unique homes; an Eichler customized by John Brooks Boyd; and a 2-story Eichler similar to the well-known San Mateo Highlands  “Life House” by architect Pietro Belluschi.

As a note of interest: Stanford owns the land on which campus homes are built and leases it to qualified faculty and administrators who own the actual structures.
