Read MoreLocated on the outskirts of the Greenmeadow Eichler community, Walnut Grove and Greendell are two Palo Alto neighborhoods with small pockets of Eichler homes. Walnut Grove is a mid-century neighborhood just off East Charleston Road (south of the Fairmeadow Eichler tract), with Eichler homes – as well as Eichler-like homes – in the vicinity of Mumford, Ely, and Dixon Place.
Greendell, on the southeast edge of Greenmeadow, is a larger community that includes almost 50 Eichler homes in addition to many mid-century ranch style homes. The Greendell Eichlers are located just off San Antonio along Ferne and Dake Avenues.
The Walnut Grove Eichlers, designed by Jones & Emmons were built in 1952. The Eichler homes in Greendell came into being a few years later, during the mid-1950s. Many residents of both Greendell and Walnut Grove use the recreational facilities operated by the Greenmeadow Community Association, which includes a swimming pool with programs for the entire family from tots to seniors.
